Where to find the pattern waist
The pattern waist is the total waist measurement you need to compare against your body waist. Two ways to find it:
- From the size chart:Look up the waist measurement for your chosen size in the brand's published size chart. This is an approximation.
- Measure the pattern directly: Lay all pieces flat. Measure along the waist seamline of all pieces and add them together. Do not include seam allowances.
Measuring the pattern directly is recommended if you've already made any adjustments to the pattern (such as grading between sizes at the hip).
